Lois has always loved music. According to her Life Care Manager (LCM), a registered nurse, Lois was raised on farm land in Killdeer, North Dakota, and anytime there was music in the town, her whole family would dance. Music holds many special memories for her. At 85 years old, she has great remembrances of dressing up and swirling to the magical music at balls and other events.
When Lois first moved to her senior living campus, Lois’s LCM started asking Lois about her passions. Lois had just come from a rehabilitation center in Arkansas, where she had been told she’d never walk again. Those memories of dancing came to her mind, and she told her LCM her wish: I want to dance again.
And so her Life Care Manager arranged for Lois to dance!
Lois’s daughter brought in a special dress, shoes and accessories. The music was donated by local singer who was accompanied by her husband pianist . To make the afternoon even more magical, a local TV reporter was on site to film this moment as the final segment in the special feature he was doing on the innovative whole person senior care approach.
